Hello,

As I told you a while ago. I ordered a HP Racing Header (Chrome) 4-2-
1 piece for my 98 Eclipse Spyder GS. The thing is, It's still on
back order. The cost was $210.00 Shipped. It claimed to increase at
least 5hp++. Now I have the option from the seller of either waiting
another 2 weeks or get a refund.

Do you think the header is really worth it. $210.00 shipped is a
really good price. I already have a Greddy Evo Exhaust, Hiper Air
Intake System, Magnecor Wires, ect...

I'm planning on getting a set of Eibach Pro-Kit Springs soon.
Sooner if I decide not to get the Header.

I don't really care about the look (Chrome Header) I want speed. NOS
is not an option. So a 5hp increase is still a increase.

What do you guys think is a good move.

Thanks,
Mike 98 Eclipse Spyder GS

Headers are usually good additions when you have a catback and intake already.. the header on the 2gnt (420a, non-spyder) is a pretty good one stock so it doesn't help them much.. but I really have no idea what the stock header looks like on the 4g64 mitsu motor that you have. Anyone in here know how good the stock 4g64 header is.. ?

Breezio, I'm truly amazed. I think you know more about 2gnt's than a lot of newer guys on here. I think you really need to get yourself a 2gnt hehe.

The headers for our car are not worth the money unless you also care about how it looks the stocker is fine. I say get the prokits or an AFX udp if you don't have one and maybe some AEM camgears or a bored throttle body.

Oh sorry I didn't see you were a spyder. In that case I'm not real sure on those.

gorko he engine is a 4g64 not a 420a like ours is. i really have now idea about stuff for those engines so i have not room to speak. but i have greddy headers and i felt a nice difference, not worth what i paid for them. but 210 is a great price, i say go for it. chances are it will be a better increase than our cars, so emoji

also, i remember u stating that you have an automatic???
if this is tru, and comparing the experience that 2gnts see with header/auto combo, the gains arent seen as much because of the smaller powerband(rpm band).
if u are manual, u may see a nice imporvement.

why not go to a junkyard, and see if u can get an exhaust mani off a 4g63 engine(gs-t/x) and slap da shiot on your car.. u would prolly need an upgraded fuel pump and other lil things, but that would prolly set u back only a cuple hundo...

i bet there is a part list sumwhere out there to convert a 4g64(spyder) to a turbo...

good luck

i farted on your wiki

I was wondering where you found the header for $210. I heard that the chrome flakes off. It may need to be repainted. But I still want to buy one b/c it is a good deal.

Call the seller and say you dont want chrome. The heat will just fuck it up in a week anyways. You should actually save some money. =]

must be pretty shitty chrome, the full exhaust system on my motorcycle is chrome (from header to tip) and just some of the hotter spots have 'blued' but that's just cause I'm running lean.
