I was talkin to my 4g63 friend about turbo kits.. and he asked me some question about the ECU works and how it senses air on the 420a?

My friend started asking me if i had a Mass airflow sensor or if my fuel curve was adjusted by how open the throttle was. I wasn't really too sure how to answer.

Anyone wanna explain it to me?

(ps.. tried searching, but i dunno what i'm looking for.)

Well first off we don't have a MAS we have a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure). The upstream O2 sensor is what is mainly controling your fuel curves. If the O2 sensor reads too much oxygen it gives the engine more fuel, if the O2 sensor reads not enough oxygen it takes some fuel away. The TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) has nothing to do with your fuel maps.

yeah, on my zx2s (like mine) we have MAF (mass airflow sensors, i don't know why the acronym is MAF) but so far as I know the Air/fuel mixture is still determind by the first O2 sensor, like in most newer cars. we have an IAT (intake air temperature sensor) integrated into the MAF, which advances or retards timing based on outside air temperature.
Anyways, I know the MAF reads how much air is comming in, but I don't know what the reading changes in the computers workings... anyone know? I'm curious.
