no, you don't need all that to take out a Si civic. Try just a muffler, CAI, and UDP. I've seen Si civics with light mods run high 15s at best, so they are very beatable, especially since they are hard to launch and the average honda driver can't actually drive. Yea, I know there's always those few "ran 15.4 on a stock Si" stories, but that's probably 5% of the civic Si's and the drivers who own them.

I've been beat by mostly stock SI's running 14's.

Most of the guys only had bolt on's.

Stage One will do the trick.

I hope anyway.

Somehow all my friends from back home found out I'm getting a stage 1... and well, now they all want to race me.

I'm up against an lightly modded Si, a lightly modded type R, a crx with a b16, and an audi A4 quattro 1.8t.

i'd say you'd definitely have to be fully bolted (i.e. intake, header, exhaust) and a UDP wouldn't hurt either. with that you should be able to get by on the Si atleast, the GSR will be harder though. now keep in mind you are asking about stock Si's and GSR's. and on that note, why do you want to know what you need to beat them? you planning on racing alot of stock Si's and GSR's? sounds kinda pointless to mod your car with the purpose of trying to beat other stock cars. and that's assuming these people will race you. you're right, GSR's and Si's are all over the place but damn near all are modded or in the "works". the ones that aren't are probably not driven by people who will readily meet you at the light you know.

as far as the "average honda driver can't drive"...what does that mean? yeah we've all seen the countless disappointments of Si's running at the track, falling short of expectations. but how many eclipses have we seen too. the average time of a non-turbo eclipse at the track with bolt-ons is well into the 17's. the fact of the matter is most people can't drive period. regardless of what vehicle they drive. and the worst part is driving is like the "bedroom"...everyone swears they are part of the elite few who have got it down. it's not honda drivers that can't drive, it's just drivers. if eclipses were as popular then people would be saying the same thing about us. and with the spike in eclipse popularity as of late i wouldn't be surprised if that's the case in 5 years or so.

now beating the Si or whatever. i have no dispute with that whatsoever. your mods can definitely justify that. but being as the Si was bolted, it would be a close race without a doubt. so i don't know how you "punched" it and pulled on and began passing the Si by the end of second gear when you were already down by two car lengths. a clutch doesn't put it to the floor that well. the only way something like that happened was if you were racing a completely inferior driver who undoubtedly missed a gear. to make up for a two car length lead within one gear you better have one mean gear ratio (no redline perhaps), some nitrous, or you were waiting on your ungodly sized turbo to spool up. i know you didn't say you made up the difference in one gear...but i'm just assuming. because you said you caught him and began pulling by the end of second. so i'm giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming you did all this "passing" in second gear because i hope you weren't facing a two car defecit by the end of first gear already...cuz then we'd be talking about some "bad driving". i know that isn't the case though because of your 1/4 mile time in your sig. and what not. all in all, i'd love to either hear the rest of the details of this race (poor driving skills, missed gears, etc...) or catch a glimpse of that vid. you got so i can see this "stompin".

once you get your stage one you may be lookin' at some rough times emoji you should duel it out just fine with your buddy's Si but those last three are gonna take ya. they'll all be fun races regardelss though. nothing's better than battling it out with your boyz. it's like a pick up b-ball game with all the same trash talking emoji

Actually, we went from a dead stop. I wasnt aware he was going to jump at the light, but he did. By the time I launched, he already had a small lead. And yeah, I got a mean first, a mean second, and a mean third gear. So, I spent all of first gear behind him...and half of 2nd behind him. At about 7200rpm in 2nd I was pulling ahead of him. Grabbed third, barked the tires, and kept pulling till I shut it down at around 110. As for my mods and my signature, I ran the 15.5 without the AEM cai, UDP, fixed rear suspension or the clutch. I have some cool stuff on video. I stomped a Chevy pickup earlier that night with a 454 in it, and raped a hatchback Civic out on Westheimer. Got more stuff, just too lazy to write about it. If you have any doubts about my car, I'm sure Kaptain Mike will back me up emoji

One more thing. As for modded 2gnt's running 17's. I really havent seen many running bad at the track, and I go alot. Last time I went I watched a guy in a bone stock 99 GS run consistent 16.5's. *shrug*

Fastest SI I have ever seen at the track that wasnt turboed or Nosed or SC'ed was a 15.7. Definetly beatable but you never know. Some guys run 17's in our cars and some guys run 15's. Too many variables to exactly say what you can beat on a certain day.

i totally agree with the "too many variables" part. but nobody runs anywhere in the 15's with our cars stock. defies physics emoji Saberkahn...i don't doubt any of your kills. and i read what mike said about your "unexplainable force" under your hood. but you ran a 15.5 with a catback, EGR blockoff mod, and a gutted converter. that is over a full second faster than the stock 1/4 mile time for our cars. those mods wouldn't produce the hp gains you would need to be anywhere near that time. people expect way too much when they go to the track (*not refering to you, generalizing*). they assume that if the 1/4 mile time in a specifications table of a vehicle is a certain time...then they are going to hit that as well at the track. news flash---DOESN'T HAPPEN. those times are performed by Professional Drivers in Optimal Conditions. and even then the time recorded is the best out of all their runs. this is why i said many eclipses run consistently in the 17's. and i've been to the track alot as well. i know they are people that run faster but it was assumed that we were generalizing the majority. good discussion though, always love to hear what you guys think/seen/experienced.

about random variables.. in ZX2's (i know.. it's not a 2gnt, but besides that.. this is just general info) the 98' model year there seems to be a certain batch that is quite a bit faster then the rest.. pulling 15.7 1/4 mile times stock all day long. there are guys with normal 98's that smoke their 99' S/R's (an S/R is a factory modified zx2.. has about 15 more HP and a buncha handling mods). We still aren't sure why they are faster.. some think it's the computer code is different that year.. one guy recently found out that on the 99's and up it's not uncommon for the bolts in the valve train to be outta spec (which can cause some loss of performance as I'm sure you know, with clerances and how far the valves open and what not).
Anyway.. just pointing out some of the completely random mechanical variables, like Saberkahns supposed 'freak' car, or whatever ya wanna call it.. hehe.

agreed at my "local import shop" the owner had a 2000 Si with a Jackson Racing Supercharger on it with EVERYTHING dont to it - pistons, valves everything you can think of..fastest time...14.5 - what is up with that - thats not that fast...the other guy who owns it also has a civic ex with a GSR MOTOR swap and a t3t4 turbo running 28 PSI ans he runs a 12.2 is that right?? - one of my friends put a 150 SHOT of NOS of his WS6 and he ran an 11.4 but in the process blew up his motor, i've seen a gsr with 75 shot of nos run a 14.4 but the best of all i have seen a CIVIC HATCHBACK with a GSR MOTOR run a 14.0 ALL MOTOR - yea thats right ALL MOTOR - no nos no turbo no nothing - thats sweet - he was beatin z28's and trans am's so why does evey eclipse owner cut down HONDAS?? my friend has a ACCORD and he fuckin fast as shit - a z28 camaro only pulled 2 car lengths maybe on him...he has no engind mods - but a modified intake and thats it 2.2 inch drop full system - 5.6 in screen - its a nice honda so why does every eclipse owner cut hondas down - in realitly yea everybody has them but the truth is they are pretty quick except civics unless you have a motor swap

I know this is old, but I just now read the replies. Actually, I didnt have the EGR blockoff mod. Just the busted up short ram and the catback. *shrug* It may defy the laws of physics, but it happened emoji I remember back when I made that run and Shaun posted my time and my mods. I caught hell from everyone. Got called a liar, etc etc, even when I posted a picture of the run and a timeslip. I agree, not everyone will run like that. Hell, no one will probably, I dunno. I think you could take an RS with a CAI, catback, pulley and some suspension work and beat a stock Si. With a good driver. I've proved it with less mods than that, and Todd has proved it as well.

Even agaisnt the two hondas I lost to last friday night at the drag strip, I had better 60' and reaction times. They passed me after I ran through 1st and most of 2nd or 3rd gear. (I had better reaction times every race I ran friday, and better 60' times than everybody except an AWD talon) It's like that almost every time I race a honda or acura, regardless of the car, I kill them off the line.

I'm just stating from my own personal experience, from what I've seen with my own eyes, against the cars I've lined up against, most (I daid MOST, not ALL) honda drivers need to spend less time and money on light up washer nozzles, body kits, and aluminum wings and get their butts to the track and get more practice.

And, I don't consider myself some great driver, I just do well enough to beat the average person next to me off the line.

I know most hondas are hard to launch, and I've seen some real good honda drivers, and I know regardless of the driver there are fast hondas out there (I lost to two of them friday!) I'm not raggin on the cars, and I'm not ragging on anyone who knows what they are doing, but the good drivers are few compared to the ones who get 0.90 reaction times and 2.5 60' times.
