You can do that or just remove the resonator that is attached to the stock air box and use a drop in K&N filter. I could tell NO DIFFERENCE taking off my CAI and putting my stock airbox with K&N and no resonator tubing back on.

Thx for that attempted drawing..im still tryin to understand it...but I think i got it...but did you say that you could feel no difference between a CAI and a stock intake with a drop in filter? So what are you sayin this does increase HP? Increase HP yes or no (hehe Im kinda slow) I feel like going out tonight and buying a filter....so what kind do I need to pick up and how much do they run???? So I dont need no adaptor....jus a filter???

I bought a $35 intake with filter. Took the filter off , added my stock tube to the new tube and the filter to the stock tube. This puts the filter below the engine and to the left with the filter facing forward. That is a $35 COLD air intake verses $200 Looks good and works great.

I bought a filter that attached to the stock intake pipe. I bought a $99 ebay cold air intake. I bought a K&N stock replacement filter and removed the resonator pieces.
