Hey I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I just had my headgasket replaced while I was on vacation. I noticed the car was leaking a little oil but the same day I got my car back it started leaking heavily from above the oil filter. I don't think it's the new gasket. It only leaks when the engine is running so I am thinking that I blew out the o-ring in my oil pump. How big of a pain in the A$$ would that be to replace and has anyone had this happen to them? What do you think the cost would be to have satan replace it?

If they replaced your oil filter they might not have taken off the old gasket that was on the old oil filter. So that there are two gaskets for the oil filter and the oil just squitrs out there. I hope that makes sence to everyone else, other than just me.

I talked to my mechanic and without looking at it he thought the filter might be loose. I checked it and it was tight, but your line of thinking is correct. I do my own oil changes and I am pretty anal about inspecting everything. Thanks for the feedback though.

I talked to satan and he said that oil pumps fail so rarely that he doubted it was the pump. He said it was more than likely a loose oil line or something like that. Anybody have any experience with this problem?

The oil pump is not located above the oil filter. if you are leaking oil around the filter, it is probably either a loose flter, bad filter seal, bad adapter plate o-ring, bad adapter plate, or a crack somewhere.
