#18851, "Help Needed ASAP.!!!!!..... Taking BOTTOM End out TONIGHT!!! Need Weight Estimate"

I am removing my bottom end.... I have everything out... stripped down.. except Crank is still in... IT's Jacked UP on bottom...COmpletely unboled all 6 bolts from Tranny and motor mount... Only Jack and LEft Engine mount remain... I need to know estimate on how much it weighs .. we have four 180-250lb men here and need to know if it's feasible to lift it out....or if we should wait and search for a lift....
So Crank...Bottom end...NO pumps...Pistons..Nothing.. connected.. How much would it weigh????? And does it need to come out at an angle..?? HOw much is still in the Tranny...Should Left side come up and out FIRST???? With The Crank still in the Flywheel is the last thing on the Right ...right??? So it should just pulll out??

the easiest way is to reattach the head and use an engine hoist. It just makes things so much more simpler. You don't want to drop that thing on the ground. things break very easily.

I guess you could also use the hoist and put some straps around the bottom of the block. Just make sure they can support about 250-300lbs and are spaced evenly.

yeah, the completed motor (without tranny) shouldn't weigh more then 300-350lbs. The problem with using people to get it out.. is getting a good hold on the damn thing and not killing your backs.

Well we decided to wait it out till tomm. to be on the safe side...(I was getting estimates from 100, 150 to 300 - 350 lbs.. so we are going to rig a Pulley type system with some straps to help pull it out along with the guys pullin on it... Thanx for the help though!

The Tranny is between 80 - 90 lbs.

The Block is about 100 lbs WITHOUT the crank.
The Crank weighs 33 lbs.
The pistons and rods are a few lbs.

Its easy to pull the tranny, getting it mounted back up straight is the pain in the ass.

Who ever said you had to "pull" the engine!?
You could have bolded the pan back on and lowered it out. emoji

We are having more difficulties with this...
We had EVERYTHING unbolted today.. on the lift .. started to pull it up...and out to the side from Auto. Tranny, & It WILL NOT come out.. it started to pull Flex Plate AND Torque Convertor with it!!!!... So i noticed the Bolts on the Flex plate .. bolted to the Torque Converter... I was first told that it was just a SPLINE that pulled out from Engine through Flex Plate and Torque Converter.. and I could simply unbolt the Block from Tranny and mounts and PULL it out.. or even drop it out... doesn't matter .. fact is.. it won't seperate from Tranny.. No there are NO 18mm bolts on TOP Bottom Side anywhere from Block to Tranny..I was told from some other sources..(who haven't worked on Autos that much that)

- You have to take Bottom of the Dust Cover off( metal cover between Block and Tranny, I'm bout to rip it off or cut it i don't care bout it for now... and prob end up just buyin a new one) To get to the Flex Plate
- Flexplate IS bolted to Torque Converter...Remove these bolts and this will then SEPERATE Flex Plate from Torque Convertor
- I then "SHOULD" have enough Clearence to take the motor up and out at an angle, with no Problem (*but prob not knowing my luck right now)

I need someone to verify this INFO For me ASAP!~~~~..
I DO NOT WANNA DO THIS, But (*next i would take off the linkage, remove drive shaft, remove tranny/mounts front and back.. and the one under Battery stand, And Pull/ Or DROP entire Block and Tranny!!!))) alOT MORE WORK than i want right now....

So if it is possible could someone give me some direction.. Any Diagrams.. I have Chiltons doesn't really help that much in this case.. And could get them to me on this post or at rvrabel1@adelphia.net , I THANK YOU VERY MUCH ahead of time, HAPPY EASTER!!!!
