#18655, "Converting Auto to Manual"

Ok, i'm sure this has been asked before, but i want some opinions. I have an auto GS-T, yes i know theres not many out there. i like it, you don't lose boost when shifting, but my tranny is acting funny and im worried about it dying. I was thinking what would it cost to convert it to manual if the tranny does go out. rather than having the auto rebuilt. has anyone done this? i know people who have done it with other cars. whats involved with this???

Nah... it's more like 700-1000 but that's doing the labor yourself.

im not a mechanic, but im pretty good at figuring this stuff out. do you think someone thats never done a major conversion like that should avoid it? i have access to mechanics who can help some, but they mostly know american made cars. also, do you know if there are any write ups on line? i checked dsm.org but couldnt find anything.
