i always have used antiseize on my spark plug treads, but recently i found a book which recommends not to use antiseize compund on the treads of a spark plug installed in aluminum cylinder heads... because the spark plug will be tighten to much etc...and being hard to remove the spark plug... what do u all think? thanks

I put antiseize. The book is referring to the fact that antiseize lets it screw in easier, so if you torque it to 16 ft-lbs, it actually ends up being a lot more tighter than that due to the antiseize. I read that Ford recommends using half the recommended torque if you use antiseize. Personally, I wouldn't use so little torque, so since the range is somewhere like 14 to 20 ft-lbs, I just use 16 and figure it's on the lower end. I just tighten by hand until it stops turning easily, and then usually with the torque wrench set to 16, it won't turn more than half a turn more anyways.

I've never used anti-sieze in any plug I have ever changed. If you change your plugs regularly (turbo likes them) then don't worry about it. If you do it by the book, then put a little. Don't glob it on there, it just needs a thin coat.

antiseize is usually used when you are joining 2 dissimilar reactive materials such as titanium and aluminum to preven galvanic corrosion or galling which actually in a way cold welds the materials togther. most good spark plugs have the threads nickel plated or cadmium plated (NGK) which will prevent this. anyways if you must use antiseize. only use a little and do not overtorque the plugs. lates james

so since i use njk spark plugs no need for antiseize ? just put it in and torque to normal car specs?

yeah it sez you don't need to use antisieze but I do anyway. Same thing with lugs. Always coat with anti-sieze. I always get a snap when I take my plugs out anyway but the last thing you need is a broken stud or spark plug threads. Bleh that stuff stinks though and it's hard to get off your fingers.

hahah ya man, my fingers get coated with a silver that looks pretty cool. it's hard to get off...I also use it on my lugs too. I stripped my studs once, and from then on, figured it's better to be safe than sorry...
