Ok...intake finally came yesterday. This is what I got.

I tried to install it and it was a pain in the ass. I couldn't get the battery to move more than an inch. I gave up cause it was getting too late last night. Anyways, what are good thin batteries out there?

if you have a 99, you probably are still runnin' the stock battery with the cover over it. Take the cover off of the battery and you will have enuf room for your new intake.

This is another reason why I went with AEM instead of the intake I bought off ebay, which looks exactly like that one. The aem has a sharper bend at the throttle body which makes it fit better. You dont even have to move the battery for an AEM.

I'm gonna try to move the bundled cables under the battery so I can have the battery up against the strut thingy. I hope I don't have to disconnect the battery cause I don't have my code for the stereo.

hi, i got that intake today and just finsihed bolting it on. i didnt have many problems, the whole process took me like 35 min. there is a bracket that sticks out of the intake by the nipple that that the tubing attaches to. this gets attached to the car witha small washer and screw that hold sum wires in place. i took out the screw, lined up the intake, bent the bracket slightly, then re attached the screw with the intake bracket in front of the existing wire bracket. (youll see what i mean.) i then undid the battery bracket and lifted the battery out of its little recessed spot and moved it over about an inch. retighten the battery in its new location, and bolt on the intake. there is very slight rubbing for me which i will se if i can avoid. but i just drove around for a good hour with the new intake, and i definatly feel a increase in power, around 8 horse, and there is a much more aggressive sound from the engine. if u listen carefully and rev up, you will hear a whooshing sound, plus through everyday driving the tone is a lot deeper. my friend was in the car with me and asked if i was driving more agressiively than normal, i told him truthfully i was driving slower than normal. overall it definatly will fit, be patient. e mail me if u have questions or want pics. I Finally got it instaled last night. Just like what Andrew said, I had to move the battery a little bit, modify the little bracket, (little cuts here and there) and then bolt everything down. I couldn't take out the battery cover cause I didn't wanna have to disconnect the battery and lose my stereo (I lost my card with the code). There was this bundle of cable between the battery and the strut thingy and I couldn't get it out of the way. So I have the battery leaning over it in an angle. I'm concerned about how close the pipe is to the battery cause when you change gears, the engine rocks back and forth along with the tube rubbing against the battery tie down. I hope it won't put a hole on the tube or something. I'll probably find something to put in between.

Anyways, the intake made a huge difference. Better response and no hesitations. It also got rid of the raspy noise from the muffler. I'll have to see how it works this afternoon when it's all hot outside.

1 quick question. Can I use just the k & n cleaning kit for the filter?

Hey, glad to hear you got it bolted on. I dont see why you couldnt use a K&N cleaning kit, since the filter included isnt a paper one. i emailed the seller and he told me that its reusable and washable so i think it'd be fine. To stop the rubbing, i took foam adhesive(its like scotch tape but foam) adn attached it to the battery tie down bracket so instead of a metal bolt rubbing against the intake, it now is this soft foam. i think it will hold up fromt he pressure of the intake against it. i got a question though, in the kit there was a hook like bracket that i have no idea what to do with, is it supposed to be a new battery hold down bracket since its flat? what did you use it for?

I didn't use the hook. I believe you could use that to hook through the hose clamp where the filter is and then against something on the car. Since the tube move as you change gears, you can't use it.

As for the battery tie down, I'm thinking of getting some rubber tie downs with hooks to tie down the battery. It will not only hold the battery, but it'll also keep the tube from being scratched. That adhesive tape idea isn't a bad idea. I'll have to see which is cheapest route.

Update:

I used both rubber tie down and adhesive foam tape. I bought 9" rubber tie downs from wally world (I used only one) and I had some foam tape that someone left in my house. I got rid of that long rod with the hook on the end so now only the rubber tie down and foam rubbing against the intake tube.
