When i got my muffler installed, I had the guy mount it diagonal. the tip actually comes out at an angle(looks like supra exhaust). I think it looks good. Also, since it was done this way, the piping didn't have any strenuous bends, so less air restriction occured. I'm pretty sure that if you instal a muffler in a straight fasion, you will have the piping making almost a complete circle around other parts under the car. My exaust guy had to do the same thing. He said for the muffler to come straight out, he would have to put in a very sharp bend in the piping, and that would restrict airflow. My muffler does angle to the left some, and that is getting me pretty good airflow through the muffler. It still looks good IMO. I have the Magnaflow ss muffler too, round, straight through design.
