well, it looks like i might get a used 35-40k 420a from japan put in my car...but the question is should i have them do anything to it before they put it in... Im gonna get a new timing belt, and ill probably bring to them an afx udp to install, is there anything else i should have them do??

my badd,...no but from what people are telling me, japan has strict smog restrictions reducing their ability to run miles on their cars ( from what it sounds, i think they have to get new motors after ~40k miles) anyhow ive contacted a couple shops down here and they are telling me they import 35k japanese motors and sell them here for cheap (under $1500-installed) the difference only is that they dont have the manifolds that are needed for california smog (which they will use mine) does this sound rediculous? am i mislead? this is what ive heard from at least 4 shops......

I got my engine 97 w/ 30k miles for $6-700...get one used from a junkyrad round the midwest area..our engines are damn popular with most Chrysler cars, you should find em cheaper than what I paid

it sounds like i got a bad rod bearing(s), cause i got some serious knocking when i drive...the biggest reason that im geting a motor swap is the lack of tools to rebuild myself...I havent dropped my oilpan so i do not know the extent of the damage.....and by the time i pay someone to do that, to diagnose the problem, and having to fix it will run me a couple G's, instead, ive been quoted to just resolve the problem by getting a motor with 40k miles with the labor for $1235, but i dont think tax and miscellanous fluids is included, but that should only be about $50-100 more.....

Where u live, around in central FL i gots to pay $1800 for a rebuild, not inc. taxes, and every other place i called wants to sell me some engine installed for over 3G's, fuk that!! Sometimes Florida SUKS!!!

dang that sux. well seems like thats an ok price installed and all. if you are ever planing on rebuilding it, then you might as well do it know. maybe if you tell them you dont want the rods & pistons they will charge less for the motor? maybe.
