Yesterday I was driving into a local 7-11, and took a hard left turn..then I hear a really loud schreiking sound. Then my ps belt broke. I had just put on my UDP about 2 weeks or so ago. So today I put on a new belt..turned on the car..and the schreiking sound was still there. So I took the belt back off, and then turned the car back on and looked at the pulleys that the belt goes over. None of the pulleys were spinning with the car on, except for the UDP. Are the others supposed to spin, even w/ the belt off? I talked to someone and they said that it might be my tensioner pulley (the one that doesn't have threads on it, I believe). What should I do?

Ok, the UDP has two belts, one turns the alternator and one turns the power steering pump, they should only turn when the UDP belt is on and turning, it could just be that the belt wasnt tight enough and it was squeeling and not turning anything. Make sure youve got the right belts and that they are tight enough so that you can only push (deflect) them about 1/4-1/2 inch.
