#1812, "help! my engine accells very slow at 5500rm"

Man that pretty much says it all. NO matter what gear im in,no matter if i am flooring it or not at my engine makes a wierd noise. It gets up to about 5500rpm fine and then it accells slower than a slug and keeps making the noise all the way up to 7000rpm. It seems like it is not getting enough spark or something. Could it be the ignition?Maybe the fuel injectors?I dont know i am not that experianced with my car yet. please help
