well, I remember air to water IC's right, cold water runs around the intake tubing and cools the incoming air from the turbo/supercharger(NO there is no superchager for the eclipse!!!) any way couldnt that help lower intake temps for very short times by taking tubing and wraping it around the intake pipe and run it to a pump and sump?

the ammount of power you would gain from that would not justify the additional weight of a water to air aftercooler and water pump on a non turbo car. plus charge temperatures from a turbo can easily reach over 300 degrees. the air from something like a "cold air intake" is much lower than that (probably around 70 or so on a nice summer day) which is about how cool the air is after a liquid to air after/intercooler on a forced induction car. making the air a "lot" cooler than that could lead to other peoblems in your engine, and proably won't gain you mroe than an additional 3 hp.

Have you ever heard of water injection? It's when you spray a mist of water (atomized) into the intake to cool the intake charge down. It very effective in cooling the air intake temps, even more effective than an intercooler. there's a faq on how to do it at vfaqs. Randy has all the parts to do it so when he's got it going I'll see wassup hehe emoji By doing this you can lower the chances of detenation.

Don't some people spray NOS on their intercoolers. You could do the same with the outside of the intake piping, but it'd be a waste of a NOS setup I think.

well if you are just spraying nos on the intercooler and not in the intake then you could use any pressurized gas; non-flamable, non-explosive would be best (helium maybe). Point is all compressed gases get extremely cold when vented into the atmosphere. Hell come to think of it you could vent helium into your intake for a cooling effect, granted it won't react like nos does by release more O2 and it will take the space of air, but the air you do have will be more compact. But you also won't have to spray more fuel...

Nitrous Express makes an N-ter cooler kit for just that purpose but doesn't expose the gas to open air or (flame) from sparks or what have you. www.nitrousexpress.com
