#17856, "I NEED HELP!!!!!!"

I am getting a clicking noise in the number 4 cylinder. I "sounds" like metal on metal contact and it increases with RPM's. It isn't the plugs, I just bought Denso Iridium's (and i thought it was the plugs so i swapped out the offending cylinders plug with a Bosch Platinum, and it still did the same thing) and i don't think they are the problem. Along with the plugs i bought MSD 8.5 wires and they are all working correctly. I did just do a oil change and a motor flush but the problem starting occurrng 2-3 days after i did that. It only occurs under load and does not occur at idle. When i pulled the plugs theylooked fine, no damage, and looked "normal" for used plugs. I'm thinking it is either a valve or a lifter, but i have no clue on how to fix those problems, so how much do you think it would cost to have it done? And i don't really know how to check to find out if it IS a valve or lifter! HELP HELP HELP HELP!!!!!

My knocking was a rod hitting the block. Our engines are like big hollow echo chambers and the rod knocking can sound like something in the top end. Check to make sure it isn't something external hitting a belt or something moving. If it isn't, you may have to take it to a mechanic unless you know how to remove the valvecover and check your top end. Good luck.

ok, this is what you do you might of blown a piston ring or piston or something so you go to autozone or somewhere and get a compression test... report your test results to us and we will tell you whats wrong... either that or maybe a fuel injector is clogged... go to a place that changes your oil and get them cleaned for 40 bucks or so... they garentee you will notice a difference... hope that helps

Make sure your EGR actuator is still connected to youe EGR valve assembly. That sucker will tick like mad if it's come loose.

I think the EGR is still connected, but would it tick with the increase of RPM's?

There is no great power loss maybe a little, or none at all, just that f*ckin' grinding sound when i rev. But the car itself seems to run fine, except for that sound.

by the way i just got compression numbers
cylinder 1 - 195
cylinder 2 - 180
cylinder 3 - 180
cylinder 4 - 195
does that seem high or strange to anyone? Does or can this tell if i have a spun bearing or thrown rod?

If you had thrown a rod the car would not run.
When I had a spun bearing it didn't make any noise until 3500 rpm or so and then there was the nice loud knock.

We don't have camshaft bearings, just main and rod bearings.
