#17716, "Ack!, I smell antifreeze"

After warming my car up this morning I could smell the distinctive smell of antifreeze. I am worried. I hope its not my head gasket. I am going to give it a good inspection tonight. Hopefully its just a loose hose clamp or something. Anyone else experience this? I have just under 60k miles.

If it is my head gasket and it needs to be relpaced, I'll probably do my timing belt done at the same time and possible an underdrive pulley. I'll keep you guys posted.

Check around your thermostat housing for leaks. I've seen a few Eclipses that leaked there.

Well, I found my coolant leak, its on the hose that comes off the radiator, like 98eclipse_GS said. Its leaking at the hoseclamp about 6 inches from the radiator. I am going to buy one of those hoseclamp that you can tighten with a screwdriver. Do you guys think I need to put some sealant like silicone near the leak??

Also, I noticed that there is a little bit of oil dripping down my engine block from the valve cover. Does anyone know how many ft/lbs to torque down the valve cover?? Also, is there a particular order that I need to tighten the bolts?

I am just a little relieved that its not anything more serious.
