#17665, "Stanless Steel valve install?"

I know I have to take the head off the car and take the entire head apart but, Has anyone done this yet? I just want to make sure I have some sort of support when I try to do this.

Can I just send the head out and have them do that and upgrade the rest of the head too. I know Howell has head rebuild kits but it doesn't say anything about stanless valves.

Well I haven't been able to find a valvespring compressor the right size to fit in our head to remove the valves so you may run in to a problem there. If you know what you are doing you can take it apart and put it together but doing headwork is another thing altogether. If you are going to replacing the valves you should go ahead and get the head ported and increase the valve size to allow more air in. When you increase the valve size the valve seat size must be increased also. May as well get the 3 angle valve job done while it's all apart too.

But if I increase the size of the valves my idle would probably suffer. Wait- I love the sound of a car that can't idle!

Didn't howell do three angle valve jobs and upgrade valvetrain?

I wasn't planning on doing my own head polishing. I just wanted to upgrade my valves if I ever run a serious nitrous set-up.

If you are worried about strength then I wouldn't upgrade valves without valve springs and retainers.

The valve spring compressor is a problem. Mopar and Snap-On I believe make a tool that will allow you to compress the vlave springs so you can remove and install valve springs. I don't know how much the tool is... but it's not cheap.

Also get the PT Rockers and PT Lifters since Mopar redesigned them and they can handle higher RPM than the current ones.

Woah why are those porting prices so high? How much do they port out?

Street Port Head- port clean up, mild port matching, very minor reshaping of ports $550

That sounds like what I got done at Road Race and it cost me 200. They offered me 3 different stages, costing 200, 400, or 600 for porting the head. They also showed me how our stock heads are really small, and the excess they got rid of. But I don't think porting is necessary unless you go high horsepower turbo.
