My garage is charging me $300 for labor to replace the timing belt, am i getting ripped?? my friend used to have a 1G and said it only cost him $150. i was just wondering if anyone had this done before and if i should take it somewhere else.
Just bought, mostly stock...but the ladies don't seem to care!

just took my car to get it worked on, the labor was 249 plus I'm having him put on a new valve cover gasket too, the total for everything came just a little over 400$

that seems about right if you are getting it done by satan.. i was quoted 325 to do the timing belt.. but i took it to a mechanic in my area and he is going to do the belt and throw on my cam gears for 140.. so i guess its where you are located and what kind of work you find.. i took mine to local race shop, but i know the mechanic does good work.. good luck too ya

I paid 325 for my timing belt and cam gears getting done. Think they charged me 250 just for the timing belt and water pump and then another 75 for the gears........

Ya it IS a lot of labor. And it depends on where you take it. Dealers usually charge 68/hour, and some local mechanics will only be 40/hour. That's why you will find a big difference in labor rates.

I just got my belt done and I purchased my timing belt seperatley from napa for 50$. I think that some garages will use the parts that you supply. If you don't have one to give them they order one from mitsubushi, which will end up costing you a lot.
