#16796, "Crane Cam Info"

Send the following or something similar to
TShultz@cranecams.com this is the individual who made the price change happen at Crane because we are the Sport Compact Market and deserve to pay more.

"You will not stand by and be ripped off by
Crane, because these cams are made on the
same blanks, and there is no
justification for that much of a price
difference between the small
Cranes, and the big Cranes. You are just
trying to rip off the public,
and we will buy the Crower cams."

Yes this is dink from Howell trying to stir up some email displeasure for Tony to read when he gets back into the office so that maybe he will decide this was not such a good idea.

I thought so emoji Welcome to the board!

You'll have to forgive me, however, Dink: this post should not be in a technical section, and will shortly be moved into our non-technical forum, The Pits.

(edit)
Well.. scratch that. This is technical enough, and the fact that you are helping to notify those interested of some seemingly shady practices by a supplyer is a benefit to those people.

Dink is sponsored by Howell Automotive, and a personal friend of mine. That being said I have to add, "Dink's views do not nessisarily reflect the views of Howell Automotive."

I will reserve me personal views of the sitituation, as we are working with Crane to change the pricing policy that was just implimented. The camshafts on the dual cams from part number 0016 up always cost $50 more, due to the fact they were ground on a different machine. The cam blanks are the same between the different grinds. Crane recently attached and additional $200 per set about the additional $50 to cover the difference in labor cost onto those part numbers. This additional $200 price increase has not sit well with consumers.

>what information do you have to back this up?

Yes I have spoken to Crane directly as I am also sponsored and did all of the testing fo the SOHC Neon for Crane and fell it is really shitty of them to add $200 dollars to the price of Cams that cost no more to produce than the smaller grinds.

As am I.

So price gouging is ok with you so when someone decides that you are part of a rapidly growing market it is ok to rape you the consumer in order to make a few more bucks quickly.

>your not happy shop elsewere.

I already have my Cam and if given the oportunity I will direct others elsewhere do to the questionable buisness tactics displayed by Crane with this outragous price hike.

I am sure they will and being sponsored this will not effect you but to everyone you send to Crane it will effect them a great deal.

Let me add for those who do not know yet the Cams for your engine/Neon engine have gone from $449.00 - $650.00 over night while on backorder which will either cause those with them on order to pay more when they arrive or it will cause the dealer you bought them from to eat the extra cost due to the price hike. Seems sort of shaddy to me.

That's not my car, it's a GSR with a Crower valvetrain. That's one of MANY bad things I have heard about Crower so that makes me not want Crower cams, and now Crane is just being plain stupid with prices.
