#16753, "More power with oversize valves?"

I called up Gude today and asked out their Head package. Aparently they keep the stock valve springs, retainers, and valves. The guy I spoke with told me that with 2mm oversize valves I won't see any power gains. I called him on it saying that they allow more air flow so how could there be no power gain. I think he was just trying to sell me an overpriced head package by telling me I'm wrong.

Am I wrong? All I ever hear is how our head is so restrictive because of small valves.

Thanks guys.

Oversized valves do help because they are larger and will allow more air in to the engine. Our head is not a bad design at all though. Our head was designed by Lotus and has been proven by HRC to flow enough for 450HP under forced induction with a completely stock valvetrain. If you are looking to go all out then you may want to look into headwork and valves but unless you have enough mods and power to need that much flow, it may not be worth it.
