#16680, "Howell/Crane Cams, did I miss something?"

I went to the Howell site today and noticed they have the Crane Cams listed on their site as if they've got 'em or something. The cams aren't out yet are they?

I think they used to sell them, but they didn't fit well so they stoped and have been to lazy to take it off the site. I guess they figure the cams wil be coming out soon.

I know, I thought people were dying to get these, people always asking when they're coming out and now they've been out for a few weeks? Anyway, anyone know what the street performance grind would yield horsepower wise?

Do the cam gears need to be removed to install the cams?

The reason I ask is because if the gears need to come off, then so does the timing belt, which means I might as well get the cams, cam gears, AFX UDP and have my timing belt changed all at the same time. If the gears stay and the timing belt doesn't need to come off then I'll get the cams now and have them installed.

But yeah horsepower?

With a street grind you could probably see a 5%-7% gain in HP. I think with cams you will definitly notice gains with a header since the stock cams are probably restricting flow, which is why no one gets good gains on stock cams.

Damasta: you will need to take off the cam gears to change the cams themselves. Sounds look a good time to do the rest of the stuff you were thinking about.

You don't HAVE to take off the timing belt and gears to remove the cams but you should. I changed my cams without removing the timing belt or cam gears! }>

We have been selling the Crane Cams, but they changed the pricing structure. What was orginally going to sold at $449.95 a pair is now going to have be sold at $650.00 a pair. The public is somewhat outraged at the massive price increase.

Crane is the only company making cams for out engine right? That price is kinda steep ($650), what other options are there? Regrinds a good idea?

$650 they have to be out of their fucking mind I think $450 is to god dame high they only cost like $100 or so for v8's! My god, just get some regrinds. I got some used regrinds and cam gears for $200! If anyone pays $650 for cams there out of their mind. I would just save for a turbo or something. My regrinds are making 22hp. they were done at web-cams.

NO but a shop in flordia has done many of the same cam installs and they told me they were getting 21-23HP. Thats the only reason I stated this. I need to get my camgears tuned to make the most power. How much is it to get your car tuned and to dyno? Does anyone know of a place near north east ohio?
