I seen you can buy a bored throttle body(55mm) for ~$300. I also notice that alot of people have them. Is it that big of a differance that I should have this done? Also, what is the size of the TB stock? Do alot of people do this themselves?

In Sport Compact Car they're doing a "Project Neon." In project neon they sent their throttle body out to RC Engineering. They opened it up to 57.4 mm. It was off a SOHC model. Does that mean RC can open ours that much. I'm not sure how similar their throttle body is to ours since we share a lot of parts.

Their TB is different than ours but our TB's can be opened to 55 mm.

How long does it take them to do it? How much downtime would you be looking at?

According to their site, it's a 2 week turnaround. Just try and find someone on the board that has a spare one, if you don't have a spare one yet. I just started looking for one today on the board, and already have one being sent.

howell has them new for $280 and they charge you $100 to bore yours and it takes about 2 weeks as said before.

if you want to have a spare one ask here or just go to a junk yard and get one off a wrecked 2gnt.

Advanced racing dynamics out of TX can do it. My intake manifold and tb are on their way back to me rihgt now... ARD said they ported the manifold more aggressively than any they have done before, and he said they bored the tb more than they have done before on our tb's, I will take some pics as soon as they come in the mail, and I will post letting you know whether I can still hold an idle, hehe.
