Need help from you guys. I'm finally getting around changing my transmission oil. After 60k hard high speed interstate drivn (ahem) cruisn. I'm trying to find which alternative trans oil is best for 5 spd manual. I've traveled 120 miles (nearest mitsu/mopar dealer) to find out that damned dealer trans fluid is $15 a bottle. WTF !!! after 3 stinkin hours of pepboys/autozone/texaco stores, couldn't find that damned Texaco MTX trans FM Fluid.
Well I was Looking at some Synth 75-90 gear oil GL5-- valvoline,Mobil 1, Castro . they were like only 1.15 a quart. I wasn't sure if the gear oil are compatable so i didn't buy'em Are they Compatable? with our 5speed man trans. or would Quaker state AFT 3++ ,dextron, merconV oils work.
any alternatives.
If theres no answers guess i'll save up some $$$ and buy the dealer trans oil.

Don't use gear lube. It's too thick. and ATF isn't for our trans. Stay with a Manual transmission fluid. I recommend BG Syncroshift. You can get three bottles for $30+ Three bottles covers the trans, and you are actually ahead of what they were charging you at the dealer. And you get a better feel to the trans. (I just did the change)
