#16214, "Do Front Sway Bars Help Performancs??"

I was talking to some guy at summit racing and he was telling me the most important mod is a front sway bar. He was telling my it transfers the torque from one wheel to the other for more applied torque. Is this true? If so I want one or should I just save up for the phantom grip?

WTF, a sway bar connects both lower control arms and stiffens up the car for better steering and grip, I dont know what that guy was thinking, but I think I won't buy from summit racing! It sounds like he was talking about a limited slip differential which does transfer power to the wheel that is getting more grip. Wait awhile, someone on this board is working on a unit like the phantom grip only they are fixing the many problems the phantom has. Should cost the same too.

Ok sounds good, I'll just wait for the new Phantom.

This guy said he has been racing since 1970. He was just telling me that if you want your car to go fast you need to apply torque. I dont know but he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

We have a prototype for the new Limited slip conversion. We can custom make units right now if we are sent the diff, before long we will have some kits made up though.

How much are we talking? If I send in my diff. Whats the turnaround? and has anyone tested this at the track? and if so what is the gain in the 1/4 mile?

You want a cheap, quick solution?

Weld a diff. Make it one, big, ugly chunk of metal on the inside, then just swap it in when you want to go to the track. Ideally, this is the best solution as it gives you a solid front "axle" - but you can't drive it on the street. it won't corner without hopping and squeeling and possibly breaking your welds.

Or just wait for Brad, or buy a quaife. emoji
