I have a small leak on the drivers side on the back of the engine.
I not sure if its coming from the valve cover or where the head meets the block. The oil runs down the back of the engine and down the transmission, it leaves like two small drops of oil any time is parked. I know it not bad, but Im afraid its going to get worst. I have a 96 eagle talon with 112,000 miles on it. Anybody got any ideas? Don't want to have to take it to dealership!

sounds like a head gasket to me. sux.....

dealer, satan, will prolly try to charge u an arm and a leg.

see if u can get a good deal on it.

check your compression as well to see if its the head gasket.

The car not smoking and has not lost any power, could the head gasket leak oil and not effect power? Know of anyone who has a how to page on replacing headgasket?

i was havin similar problems a few weeks ago, but all was fixed when i had my head gasket replaced. it happens frequently to our 420a engine in the same corner where yours is.

and i had the same 2 drops on my garage floor everymornin to clean up.

good luck. satan quoted me like 10 hours of labor for headgasket. just be patient, maybe do your timin belt while your in there sine u are at 114k.

Thanks for the info will probaly wait till I get the timing belt changed unless the leak gets really bad!

Before you asume it's a headgasket leak jack up the car and look at the back of the block - it turned out when i thought it was a hg leak it was the oil sensor that was leaking.

true to that but there is also a chance the the cam angle sensor is causing the leak BUT if it's on the back of the block than it's either the head gasket or the sensor. Just to be safe, buy the whole gasket kit for our cars and you'll get all the gaskets for you car. I had asked the dealership for the cam angle sensor(part on the side of the head, near the front that is kindof oval looking) and they said that it doesn't use a gasket/o-ring, well it had a gasket/o-ring cause it was leaking from there. i pulled it off changed it out and no more leaks there. today i am doing my head gasket and porting out the manifold and head for more power.
