ok i was just wondering if anyone else notices this. i have a 1995 eclipse rs. it seems that at half throttle and full throttle there is really no big difference. say im i second accelerating at half throttle and at around 3500 rpm i can punch it and tell hardly no difference but above 4 grand the car pulls very hard. this is my second motor and the 1st motor was the same. i have done the throttle plate adjustment already. also i have been having idling probs. whewn i first start the car and drive it the motor will idle up really high like 2500 rpm and will do this for a while even after it is fully up to ooperating temp. lets say im going down the road and come to a stop sign i push in the clutch in, stop and the motor will still be at 2500 rpm even though the clutch is pushed in. after about 5 seconds it will drop to 1000 rpm and then will drop to a normal 800 rpm then whenever i take off and shift to second at about 3000 rpm push in the clutch it will drop to 2500 and stay there then i shift to second. sometimes the car will quit doing it though and go to its normal ways. is it the TPS i saw on here where there was a thing on outdated tb. mine is outdated with the tps without the o ring for sealing out moisture, do i need to get the updated tb or what. please help.

I think the engine isn't taking much air at low rpm so it doesn't need to be fully open, but at higher revs it needs the air. My car will hold 1500rpm while driving if I'm in neutral, but it will drop after a few seconds after stoping.

modern engines hold the rpm's higher up while moving and coasting on purpose. the reason is that some of the engines power makes the brakes work better and the power steering work better. so since these things are still needed while the car is moving (whether you are accelerating or not) the engine keeps it's rpms up a little so that the steering and brakes still function to the best of their abilities. If for some reason you do'nt beleive me. have the car parked and idling normaly and try and turn the wheel one way. then rev the engine yourself and try to move it the other way.. it'll be easier. (although some engines rev themselves when you try and turn the wheel at a stop). Anyway. that being said. His car shouldn't be idling at 2500 rpm when moving.. that's too high, something is not right. I personaly don't know what it could be... but purhaps someone else will.

my buddy had the same type of problem in his Talon.... the guys told me it was the "idle step motor......something or other ..... sorry Ive had a few too many brews already 2-night....... he never fixed it then his car got repo'd so I dont know if he ever fixed it.... he owes me like $170 so I never hear from him anymore..... sorry that I didnt help....
