#15161, "what the hell can be wrong"

Ok. i bought a 95 RS about 3 and a half months ago. On december the 23rd the motor went bad. Replaced the motor with a used motor out of a 96. The motor only had 30,000 miles on it or so the people who put it in said. Well i started to notice that if i left the car idling for around 5 minutes it would start smoking(light blue)which tells me its burning oil. The people said the rings are bad but the car has no loss in power and does not smoke whenever you drive it. I changed the oil sunday and put in some marvels mystery oil. Well today i was disconnecting the o2 sensor near the cat which doesnt work and left the car running. it took the car 30+ minutes before it started to smoke and when it did i sat there and started revving it up and the smoke went away. My question is is it the valve seals or the rings the motor is under warranty but i dont want to be carless for another 2 weeks. also the car is starting to spit and sputter under load, say i go to 5th gear at about 1500 rpm it will start to spit and the whole car will jerk back and forth but above 2000 rpm it doesnt do this, is this because of the faulty o2 sensor or what?. like i said there is no loss in power at all so WHAT THE HELL CAN BE WRONG? also drinks the hell outta gas cuz of the stupid o2 sensor damn i want a gsx. by the way is 3500 a good price for a 91 gsx with a 16g afc 3" downpipe galant vr4 ecu fmic and some other mods i dont know them the car runs low 12's at 120 mph tell me what ya think.

I would say that your problems are being caused by the bad O2 sensor. The spitting/sputtering is from being WAY too rich. Change your O2 sensor!

Could be a burnt valve. Try a compression test. I bet you knew that one was coming. emoji

well i have 2 choices right now and 1 of those is to do a head swap cause i still have the other head. this seems wierd though it only sputters once the car is warmed up doesnt do it whenever the car is cold. thanks for the info though. im kinda afraid to do the compression test you know how that one goes.

for camber, do the rear 15 dolla mod (found on main 2gnt.com page under mods)

i think hes dropped 2" or a lil more, im dropped 2 inches, but im on 16s, so it looks a lil diff.

Thanks for the info and i did see the 15 dollar camber kit mod so i will do this this week once i get my coilovers which im getting for 50 dollars. there tanabe so they should be good. how do i get rid of that goddamn raspy sound from my aftermarket muffler i cant stand it. i have no resonator and im gonna try to get the cat off if i can and gut it out then i guess ill have to try to change the muffler. have you ever heard of the eclipse having an idling prob. mine when its cold and sometimes when its hot will idle very high. if i come to a stop sign and push in the clutch the revs will stay around 2500 then sloooowly drop to 1200 then if u sit a while the revs will go to normal but it doesnt do this all the tim i dont have the updated tb.
