there has been a lot of talk about clutches on here recentley. and i have heard that my car (95) can have two different types of clutches. is this true? and if i didn't have the 700+ bucks to spend on a CM stage 3 or 4 then what is the next best clutch? i plan to be putting down around 275-300 horses with this thing.
thanks

I had to do a lot of reseach on this but here I go. There is a non modular and a modular clutch
Modular=clutch/flywheel one piece nonmodular=separate pieces
My car always confused me. It is a 95 Talon with the early fuel system, but it has the modular clutch setup(96+ style)
The CM clutch you spoke about would be a modular design(I assume you saw that at the HRC site??) That is why the stage4 runs around $600. I was told you can get the non modular setup for around $450, but then you either have to find a used non modualr flywheel or get a new lightened flywheel($300) which is actually more $$
I also heard some goods and bads about Centerforce dual friction clutches. You can check those out too. Go to RRE, they give pros and cons on some clutches(ACT DOESNT make one for our cars)
I am installing the howell bottom end kit with an HRC stage 2 and I am upgrading the fuel system to boost to 15psi. I plan on getting the CM Stage 4 just to be safe. It would suck to put all that time into the motor and have to pull it again to change the clutch.
Basically with a clutch, you get what you pay for.
Sorry about the long post
