#14894, "Which K&N Filter Model For to Replace Stock AEM CAI Filter?"
I purchased a used AEM CAI that came with the stock AEM filter. I am considering upgrading to a K&N, as the one that I have is a little beat up and bent outta shape. But, K&N and AEM don't really tell you which one to use. What models are you guys using? AEM pipe I have is 2.5" diameter. I did call K&N and the told me to use model RC-4760 or RC-4670, I can't remember exactly which one. But the dimensions of this model seem very large and it is a pricey item-lists at around $60.00 Anyone know exactly which one? I did a search for K&N AND Filter, but nothing related to what I needed came up. Thanks in advnace. Candude

pick the size you want, as long as the connector part is for a 2.5inch connection. K&N makes filters in practically any size and shape you could imagine. and a K&N going for 60 bucks isn't too supprising. if you tell me what dimensions you want I could probably get you an S&B filter (basically same as K&N) for a good price (better then the K&N's go for) just need to know what size you need, such as connection diameter, length, width, possibly number of pleats.

Hey Fernando. It was fine until I started tapping it to clean out a bit. I didn't think I was tapping it to hard until it started collapsing on me. Really, I didn't beat it up or anything. They were just light taps. Honest. It was fine when I got it from you. Guess I don't know my own strength.
Besides, I just wanna figure out what I'll need for the future. I'll probably leave the exisiting one for now. You are right about saving for other upgrades. New rims and tires, maybe? I have already installed it in my car and it runs and sounds great. Throttle response has imporoved greatly. I have to keep fighting myself to not floor it at every stop light. }>
Everyone else, thanks very much for the info. I got the K&N charger kit and will clean and re-oil the filter next weekend. And how often should the filter be cleaned anyway? Thanks again Candude

filter doesn't need to be cleaned very often at all.. those filters actually work better as they get dirty. I think I read something about cleaning them every 25K miles or something.
