Header on stock car increase low end torque? I know with the install of a header you don't LOSE any low end torque (or it's minimal), but can it increase low end?

Also what headers are better, 4-2-1 or 4-1? I know GReddy is supposed to be the best, but it's also the most expensive. Anyone wanna sell me theirs for cheaper than retail?

I think the header would have to get smaller to give more low end torque, they are mainly for mid to high. I personaly would get a 4-1 because thats what F1 cars use and they go hella fast!

A 4-1 header flows much more air than a 4-2-1 header which is where the higher HP comes from. Headers usually give most of the power up in the high rpm range which is really all that matters in a race because you spend about 1 - 2 seconds in low rpm in a race.

I like my headers I feel no loss anywhere and would say if anythign I feel an improvement throughout the rpm band. But mine also is a stepped runner design 4-1 to do exactly that. They are made to not loose low end.

Greddy sucks! all it does is help mid a little and will gain 1hp up top. My brother has a hotshot header 4-1 and he lost little but gained a lot more. He is thinking about turbo so you might be able to buy his.

Engine mods-
RS Akimoto short (P.O.S.!) intake, Greddy Sport Cat-back ex.
Suspension-
Ground Control Coil-overs,KYB AGX shocks, RS Akimoto strut bar(front) TSW Trouphies 18x8,Nitto 555's.
Exterior-
Paint! C.F. Hood, Z3 fenders, Street Fighter Gen 2

Greddy does not suck. A hotshot header wouldn't give anymore HP than a Greddy because they are both 4-1. They more than likely flow the same amount of air. I doubt your brother got anymore than 1-2 hp from his hotshot header.

Where did you get your 1hp reading for the Greddy? In import tuner power pages? The least reliable source for hp stats. I know a header doesn't increase horsepower all that much, but torque is increased a nice bit, and I know Greddy probably makes the highest quality, best fitting headers out there, not to mention they look hella tight...before you install them, then they get all poopey. My friend had his installed at a shop (he's afraid of tools emoji) and before he left the shop he checked under the hood and it was already looking dull, oh well it still looks tight.

well a 4-1 is supposed to lose some low end but have much higher top end power.. which many told me forget the low end we dont got none anyhow.

but then we wont ever see them top end gains cuzwe cannot rev high enough..

the 4 2 1 is supposed to lose no lowend and gain some midrange..

i have a 4 1 kamikaze.. and im cool with it.. im mostly show now. so it dressed up theengine morethen the exhaust mani..

and it sounds meaner.

for 250 i coudnt go wrong.

I love dino and 2gnt. ####ers (my word) bliz stole it but i let him borrow it

There's more to header design than just 4-1 and 4-2-1. Really to you 4-1 and 4-2-1 means nothing comparing different brands with each other. its possible for a 4-2-1 to be better up top and a 4-1 better down low and vise versa once you factor in the other variables. The collector design, length of runners and diameter of piping all contribute to what makes a header do what it does so you really dont know what you are comparing anyway. My old brospeed felt like it helped low and especially midrange torque but couldn't tell much difference up top. Prior to the brospeed I had the orin design 4:1 pacesetter. All in all the only gain worth the switch was in finish quality.

Theoretically if you want better low and mid you should look for a header with long conservative diameter runners and a 4-2-1 design. theoretically 4-2-1 are deliver broader gains and are more forgiving for tuning (read: if a company is doing real testing of their product there more likely to get lucky with this design). Theoretically a 4:1 are usually tuned to a narrow rpm range high in the powerband and aren't that great outside that range. In actuality the AEBS header for SR20DE are 4:1 and in comparison test produce the best low end torque AND best top end power. they credit it to the collector design.

My advice is use word of mouth you trust(get the brospeed for low/mid. get something else for topend) since dyno's on all aren't likely
