Ok, so the runners on our engines are designed to be as curvy and long as possible in order to up our low end torque and consquently getting a manifold with shorter runners apparently kills our torque.

Question is y is it that the 4g63 gains large ammounts of hp when a short style manifold is used instead of the stock one. Is it a) the design of the engine or b) because the pressure in the manifold due to the turbo?

If A, then all I can do is port and polish it to enhance performance?

If B, after I turbo my car can I also get a short runner style manifold and see the performance gains that the 4g63 sees with this same piece of equipment?

Which kind of manifold would you want to push 20 lbs+ of boost through, one with 18 inch long runners or 5 inch long runners???

It's not engine desing. You could (if you could get one made) put a shorter runner sheet metal intake on our cars and see the same gains.

idle would suffer with a sheetmetal intake emoji Rage said its only for the "extreme", meaning drag only i guess. The stock manifold is pretty good in my oppinion, just port and polish it, gasket match, and rework the tb while your at it, then powdercoat it whatever color you want and call it your custom intake manifold, hehe emoji
