I wouldnt recommend a 3" exhaust on an NA car. Actually you can have a loss of performance, low-end torque. You dont need anything larger than 2 1/2" unless you plan on going turbo in the future...
Dont do it, a 3 inch exhaust will lower the backpressure, consequently giving your car less power. There are probably tons of posts just like this in the archives. If you search for them Im sure you could find every reason known to man why not to go with a turbo exhaust on your car.
did anyone else see him write that he wasn't planning to go turbo in the future? all i saw was that he had a n/t eclipse and asked if the ones made for the gst would fit. calm down everyone...but yeh, it'll fit.
No doubt, there are a lot of new people on this board every day. You see a "welcome our newest member __________" change all the time. Some people may not have figured out the search option yet. All I am saying is cut them some slack. This board is a great board and doesn't need to turn into a DSM talk board with every one arguing and debating simple issues and questions.

Any exhaust for a 2g gst will fit on our cars. I do believe there is an issue with the flange that connects to the cat though because they are at different angles on the gsts and the rs/gs (i could be wrong ... could be the other flange on the cat).
Performance wise as long as you can keep the exhaust gas velocity up you will be fine. Todd (VX100) made a very informative post about exhaust performance being related to exhaust gas velocity and not back pressure a while a go. Try the search to see if you can find it. I'll try to sum it up as best I can in a few sentences.
Performance is related to how much air you can get into and out of your system. Thus a high flow exhaust will improve your performance. Although an exhaust diameter can get too large. At low rpms the amount of exhaust gases is less than at higher rpm. If the pipe diameter is too large it will decrease gas velocity. At high rpms the amount is greater. If the pipe diameter is too small it will restrict flow thus causing a decrease in gas velocity. Best thing is to find a happy medium or which ever suits your purpose (I don't give a crap about low end ... I'm all top end ... etc, etc.).

I was going to say exactly what avenger said, he beat me to it the bastard (j/k). I think it is the flange closest to the engine that is different though. but like avenger said NO backpressure is good, whats important is exhaust gas velocity
