TTiracing.com (Azizi Tucker) is also working to come up with a 420a-specific ecu. Apparently, he says it will work with any 420a, and this baby is proposed to be turbo compatible and rev limit adjustable. (fuel, ignition, idle speed, rev limits, use of CEL...etc.)

http://www.neons.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4570

Pinch me, am I dreaming? (heheh) Of course, as a realist, I'll believe it when I see it, but it's better than putting all of your eggs into one basket.

No it's gonna stay 2gnt Special Ops cause the neons always get everything anyways. This is to get US some aftermarket support!

What's so weird is that there is all this aftermarket support for an economy car neon, versus not much at all for a 2gnt sports car. Is it because for eclipses, there is already so much support for the 4g63? It just seems odd because I don't think that many people fix up neons do they?

The neon came out and right away Mopar was dumping LOADS of money in to it for SCCA and road racing. They handle fairly well and are very light weight. Plus the DOHC 420A was the sporty motor as compared the the SOHC where in our case with the 2g, the 4g63 is the sporty motor and the 420A DOHC is not.

Maybe this can heed some folks not to get their hopes up too much...

We at ASOG a looong time ago took our ecu's to superchips wehre they said they could modify our ecu's. After months of work done, it was found that our ecu's are NOT flasheable or modifiable. I dont have the full details, but i can find it if you wish. I just hope no one gets their hopes up on having anything modified on our ecu....

my 3.49 and no more change left...

I am pretty positiv ethat if howell can modify 97+ neon ecu's, they can modify ours. I have had information input into my car ecu by hte dealer before (not sure if that is flashing or not) but they have corrected my vin # info and my curent mileage in the computer's programing. I think superchips might have been pulling some people's chain, or just didn't have the programing needed to modify chrysler ecu's. quick way to find out is to see if they offer ecu modification for 97+ neons. if they don't............

well if AFX's computer can be programmed by the user then i would go with them of course, but whichever has the most options (with price considered of course) I would go with. Not having the ecu isnt a prob for me now cuz im not turbo yet, but hopefully by the end of the summer I will be atleast stage 1

I swear I warned ASOG before they started with superchips they are a fraud. Have seen but a few test of superchips on imports (although ours is domestic but with typical import tech) and all they did was lose hp. Lost 4hp on an integra (the one Turbo mag didn't print any name for, they did on VTEC.net dont ask why I was there). Lost hp SCC project probe, they went back to stock. They are right up there with JET (which also claimed to tune neon PCMs which just happened to perform just as stock in Mopar Now's testing). Of course they couldn't do anything. Good for ASOG cause you all would have likely had slower cars (reminds me I just had the Upsolute chip rep take out my ECU, desolder a chip from it, pull the complete program out of my VW, upload it on his laptop computer, save it, put OE program back in my ECU, installed it back in my car and send my factory program to the astralian headquaters via PC to be custom tuned all while I watched. In a few days he puts the new prgram in. Cost: $300).

Hey Stan, is it true that an ECU upgrade on a new GTI 1.8t will give you about 20 hp? I think it can also raise the boost right? I know you have a VR6, but just wondering if you know about the 1.8t.

Actually more like 50hp on 2001 and older 150hp versions and about 40hp on 02' 180hp versions. Upsolute raises boost from stock 8.7 to 1 bar (14.7psi). Neuspeed raises it to 11psi and GIAC to 1.2bar. Your friend should pick up the March issue of Grassroots motorsports. they test a chipped neuspeed 1.8T and dyno a GIAC chipped car (went from 130hp @the wheels to 173hp on the 150hp version). BTW dont get neuspeed, they are too conservative and always produce less power than most other chips.

Tell you friend to check out these sights:

http://www.giacusa.com
http://www.upsolute.com

the general conscenses is these are the best two chippers for VW but the Upsolute is alot cheaper for turbo cars (all chips $325) while Garretts are $500 for turbo cars and $300 and less for NA cars. The Upsolute guy says Garrett(GIAC) does good work and he has nothing bad to say about their chips, Upsolute just cost less for turbo cars. Also said GIAC get 1.2bar vs 1bar for theres but they still dyno the same. Also check the forums at http://www.vwvortex.com

Heh looks like AFX is the way to roll baby. I already got one AFX product wouldn't mind having another. But didn't they say that the AFX ECU will work with our cars just that we need to rewire the harness? Man I just hope it can do the same shiz as a super AFC, so I can get my money's worth emoji

Heh looks like we'll have to call it 2GNT & Avenger Special OPS, I have to say they probably have less support than the 2GNTs do but they are very similar. ^_^

my gf just recently got a 1.8t, used. the car has intake, weld on muff, and it must have some sort of chip in it. all i can say is that my car would lose badly. she hasnt taken it to the track but it must be in the mid 14's. i took my friend for a ride in it and he compared it to his brothers 5.0 mustang in acceleration. just what he said. i still think the crustang would beat it but its comparable.
