i think that is just the nature of these cars, i find that the car accelerates quicker if I just push the pedal halfway down.

same here. I thinkn when you mash the throttle too far down intially, you flood the chambers with too much fuel and not enough air thus the hesitation.

first off have you adjusted your throtle calbe any?? if not than go to this. take off the tubing that goes from your intake to your air filter. long and black on the right side. than with a bottle of say wd-40 (2+2 gum cutter or carb cleaner will work better) spray in your throtle body. hose it down pretty well. than use either a small wire brush or an old tooth brush and a rag to srcub out all th black gunk in there. when your layin on the spray besure to open your throtle body. do this buy grabbing the throttle cable and pulling it up towards the hood. make sure to scrub the top of the peice that moves inside. once your done scrubbin start your car up and go for a ride. you should get a good amount of black stuff out . good luck.

Amish_Eclipse is right. I have never had any problems with hesitation when I mash my gas peddal down. Sounds like throtle plate problem or something else.

That klunk sound could be the ball joint recall. I think the recall is on most 96s. I had the same sound on my 96 everytime I accelerated, and when I took the car in to have the recall done, it stopped.

Hmm I get the same problem but it's only when the car is warming up. After the engine is running at normal temp it goes away. Been doing this for a couple months so far. Heh I think my intake manifold is extremely dirty, does that thing with the spraying of TB cleaner in the manifold work? It won't harm the internals will it, I know a lot of shit is gonna come out of th exhuast. I might just do this, before summer hits. I know my intake piping is clean though cuz I got a catch can emoji

I've heard this problem posted to the boards at least 5 times, and still have yet to hear a good solution. For the record, mine does it too. I have an 99'RS w/AT & Hahn Stage II.

I mash on the pedal from a stop and it hits some sort of wall at about 3k, engine gets all quiet & no power but the turbo is spooling and whooshing all loud. Then I ease off the throttle, and vrooom power kicks in again at about 1/2 throttle, and I can mash it all the way back down from there.

If I'm on a hill or something I can get this hesitation all the way up the hill if I don't let off... all you hear is SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHTTTTT and the engine sounds like it's idling. I like using it to scare off Hondas, but its ANNOYING when I try and boost for real. My only *guesses* are: Fuel Cut caused by a bad FCD (Fuel Cut Defencer), too much air (overboost?) which gets "fixed" by the ECU and just makes the engine go stupid. There's got to be a better explanation... anyone?

Dan
