#14016, "What motors will swap?"

I am interested in swapping out my motor when it bites the dust. Does anyone know what good n' fast motors will bolt into our cars?

I already know about the 4g63 fitting (duh) and that v6 Sebring motor ... but what else is out there?

Do you think that an FTO motor will fit? I'd like to do something crazy like that.

you have an RS right?
if you do, NO a 4g63 won't fit.. not without serious modifications. the eclipses with the 420a's and the ones with the 4g63's are completely different in the engine compartment.

The only motor I know of that would fit would be the Stratus' 2.4L I4 motor. cause i've been told it's the nearly the same as the 420a, just stroked out longer or something.

Nick has been on the board for a while so I know he knows what goes into fitting the 4g63. I would look in to turboing the 2.4L swap if you are looking for a tough swap.

Yes I know fitting a 4g63 is a pain, and whats unique about that anyway? The only way I'd do it is If I found some 9 second twerked 4g63 motor for sale.

As for the ASOG v6, man, I sure hope there are more options thhen that. Makes me wanna buy a hatchback and slam a type r motor inside.

Would it be possible to take the v6 and turbo it? If you could do that the eclipse would be hella fast but I think it would cast ya a pretty penny for it. I dunno, just curious. Later!...oh yea doesnt the cyclone motor swap too, i dunno, i wish i knew more but i am tired and pissed off, ha ha!

Since i live accross the border and really near to the US, i don't see a lot of Mexican Stratus R/T around here (2.4 Turbo!!!)(The more south, the more "New" cars you see, economy!!!) but i'm willing to help and ask around a few yunkyards in my area about that motor in particular, it would be a cool thing to do, put that motor on our cars. the first thing i can do is stop someone on the street with that car and ask him politely to open his hood for me....lol

THe FTO 2.0L DOHC MIVEC V-6 would be a nice engine to swap in, but there are two problems: finding a FTO engine at a price you are willing to spend and makign a custom swap to do it. Anything is possible if you have the cash.

Well, for all the swaps we CANNOT do the only logical thing to do would be to rebuild the motor. Like getting the Stroker Kit once Howell is done with it then turbo that baby. Theres your 2.3 or 2.4 420A engine with performance rebuild, BAM! But I am sure you would need plenty to make a turbo stroked 420A run right. Like I would think the axles would be an issue.

But having a kit to swap in the 2.4 420A would be very nice.

no more 420A

only 4G63

hell i know i am new to this and don't know anyone.. but have you ever heard of paeco.com they have fully machined and rebuilt 420a's... a lil expensive but i think it's well worth it.. i think the biggest you can go is 343hp for 8g's and thats everything ready to go, but they also have shortblocks for half that much for the budget minded.. buy that, bolt on some boost, and give it some juice your lookin easy 400hp..

Has anyone ever tried to swap a V6 from a sebring or avenger? My girlfriend has a sebring V6 that I have worked on a bunch and everything in that engine bay is in the exact same place as in the eclipse 420a engine bay. Seems like it would fit. Just curious, would be fun to try.
