this might be a stupid question but I don't know any better so here I go, on a auto when you power brake don't you seriously put damage on your engine or tranny?

Well it is said that you should really only hold it for a good 5 seconds tops. Our autos are strong as hell and so are our engines, but I wouldn't hold it too long.
