Wondering if anyone has any info or a link to a site describing variances and differences in the VVT head compared to the 420A head. It's probably completely different - but i'd like to know if all possible.
Ive been staring at this Patriot for 3 days doing a pillar and passenger doors and I keep imagining this VVT system on my 2.4 EDZ block. (Poor mans MIVEC).

That's a World Engine, so electronic control issus for the VVT aside, the bore size / bore spacing should be at least close to the EDZ (Allpar states it's an 88mm bore vs the EDZ 87.5mm, but no idea if its on the same center), but the odds of the oil and coolant passages or head bolt / stud locations lining up to the EDZ block are slim, and the odds of it bolting right on are, in my opinion, nil.
it's also rear-exhaust in most Chrysler applications, iirc.
Wouldn't mind getting my hands on one to measure, though.

I also forgot to add, the plastic runner intake is mounted forward while the exhaust is rear. Just like Neon heads. So this may not help. But im still researching everything ican find. The only real way would be to have a side by side comparison and a block to match it against.

Please delete the thread.
After searching neons.org i've come to the conclusion that this has been beat to death with a stick. Much like the "I want to swap a 4g into my 2gnt" threads.
The simple fact that the casting is totally revamped, head bolt locations are farther apart and a larger diameter bolt, as well as the amount of cutting time you'd have into modifying the head - it's not worth it.

I'm going to leave the thread here for future questioners. A while back I stumbled onto a thread about the world engine and gave it some cursory thought. I can't say I've taken the idea totally off the stove (of course its a real big ass stove ) so who knows......

Good call.
We may find some use in this engine some day. I really would like to get my hands on a blown patriot block. Those are more common than a long block from a dart. The patriot i worked on had 80k miles already, so if the opportunity comes up in a junkyard i may snatch one up.
