#136781, "Blew It Up Somehow"

Waiting on leak down test results on Monday or whenever I get my hands on a gauge but cylinder 3 has 50 psi in it and all others have 125 psi. Exhaust is coming out of the valve cover also. Fucking blows ass. Idk whats going on in it but I'm pretty pissed right now.

Or a cracked ring land, ora damaged piston, or anything else that would affect the cylinder seal...

Looked down into the cylinders and couldn't see any melting or holes with a flashlight and my eye.

Should be these that come with all the stroker stuff I got years ago. Obviously the pic on the site is wrong.

I need to break the block apart because I've always been suspicious that Howell fucked me hard and it's not even a 2.2L but I have nothing to base this off of yet.

I was logging when it happened. Here's my MS folder with everything in it. It should be the latest log in the list.

Well you know who to get ahold of for parts =P.

But seriously wtf. That sucks. Wonder how the hell that happened. If you are concerned about the stroker of the crank from Howell, get me some pics we will work it out. As for pistons... depending on what happened, maybe contact Howell or JE and see what they can do for you.

interesting. were you running boost thru this while tuning?

i wanna look at your MLV file.. but theres alot of files in your attachment : /

either way this shouldnt happen, hell they could have been stock pistons, and this still shouldnt have happend. what do the plugs look like? i have a feeling you ran lean and were detonating all over the place. What Wideband are you runing? everything calibrated, and calibrated to the MS correctly?

I guess we will know what brand when you pop the oil pan off, but the look like the standard JE 8.8:1 that most of us have seen. i dont think the parts are 100% at fault here. looks like a tune killed it IMO.

you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest, honestly, its the honest ones you need to look out for. you never know when they will do something..stupid

If you paste the entire 'neon dual table' into the tunerstudioprojects folder in my documents, you can open it like a project and everything is there.

It honestly was most likely the tune, but digging into it, it looks like Howell might have fucked me big time and this isn't even a 2.2L. I'll know tonight for sure.

I learned my lesson several years back to avoid Howell at All cost. I know their customer service blew, but selling a shortblock as 2.2 and sending a rebuilt stocker is pretty damn bad. Hopefully that wasn't the case....But also wouldn't surprise me in the least... Sorry about your motor, that sucks.

He did not get a Callies 2.2, you can tell from the fact that it has chrysler badging on the cranks, but Howell was originally modifying stockers before our set-up.

Yeah, they were (iirc) offset grinding the journals and adding metal back.

From looking at your log you are a little leaner than I normally like at 8-10psi but after that it gradually slopes down to where it should be. At 20 psi I like to be around 11:1 with pump, maybe even a little richer depending on how much timing you are running. I remember a while back people where having issues with the material near the valve relief being thing and melting them like you have done but I don't remember what exactly they did about it either. Its obvious now that the edge of the piston got too hot, it doesn't look like preignition or det because the middle of the piston looks good and doesn't have little dimples in it everywhere. If you could log egt we could probably tell you exactly what happened. It sucks man and hope everything works out for you!

On a lighter note, I'm taking advantage of the situation by ripping out my old stock engine harness.

Sorry man, Im lucky I havent blown mine since Ive let it knock all over the place. Did you check the motors timing, to make sure it didnt jump or anthing? How do the valves and head look? Also why would you get 125psi one 3cyl, when 2 and 3 have chunks out of them.
