I noticed my cam sensor wiring is insanely stiff. So I bought a new pigtail to replace the old plug and wires. My question is this: Soldering or crimping. What is better? My concern is the heat of the EGR tube. I've read pros and cons of both methods, but it seems that crimping has the least amount of drawbacks (as long as it's done right).

On my Harley's {KNOWN 2-wheeled vibrators...........lol} I do both when the application permits. First I solder, then crimp, then re-heat solder to ensure optimum continuity. Then as a final touch, I usually cover connection w/heat-shrink tubing. The heat-shrink not only insulates, but adds a clean "pro" look. ** Note: make sure you slide heat-shrink on wire BEFORE soldering. **

That's sound advice. I can't tell you how many times I forgot to put heat shrink on before I had already soldered the connection.
OP - Just make sure you aren't caking your connections in solder. You only want to make a good connections, not drown the connections. If you haven't done much soldering in the past just practice on some lengths of wire before you start the actual job. It isn't hard.
When it comes to a sensor as critical to vehicle operation - and subject to so much heat and vibratory stress, I would ONLY consider soldering this thing on.

OP as you may know by now, it comes down to personal opinion. I prefer soldering rather than crimping.

you def want to solder any connection that will be exposed to the elements. dirt, oil, grease and water will get into a crimp connector and will corrode over time and lead to future problems. soldering take more time to do but will save you time and headache in the long run
