#13617, "Install prices?"

How much I should expect to get charged to install pistons, rings and streghten or get new rods (not sure what Im doing yet)? I have gotten some random ass install prices. One said 2400 to install pistons, rings and injectors and the other told my friend less then 1000 to install pistons, rings, and rods. This is only labor and 1500 or so difference in price is weird. I hope its closer to 1000 cause I dont think I can afford to get my internals done for that much $. Plus I dont think I can afford not to have a car for a long time. How long should I expect the car to be in the shop? Thanks

I was quoted 450-600 for the installation of my internals. That was from a custom engine shop. But now friend of mine is going to let me use his shop and help me. so now is free emoji

It REALLY depends on how much work YOU want to do. I was quoted about $1800 labor by a mechanic that has worked on my 3 different cars and my parents cars. The thing is, he is a mechanic so his labor charge reflects that. Now if you can get the engine out yourself and take it to an engine shop, they can to all the work and you could pay around $500 - $1000 to do it plus you will know the job is done like it should be because that is what they do, rebuild engines. I was able to get a phone number of a local engine shop from one of the local V8 performance shops.

Yeah the $2400 could have been engine removal rebuild and installation. The $1000 should be just the engine work. Because is someone is charging $2400 for just installing internal...

Call around and get some recommendations. You should be able to find somebody to do it for a good price.
