#136139, "Engine Bay Heat"

So, the heat under my hood is getting pretty crazy. At first I could understand why; I have no spring in my wg and it was just dumping into the atmosphere. In that condition, it melted my A/C fan and my engine bay looks really dusty. Also, the poor hose coming from the turbo to the wg cracked and replaced. Of course you can't touch anything without getting burned, even the metal hood holder O.0 Eventually I went to a shop and got the damn thing welded in with the rest of the exhaust hoping it would fix this heat issue.($80 for future searches) It didn't. It did however make my exhaust much more quieter which is great btw. Just to give you a feel of why I think its really hot. I parked in the middle of a parking lot where there are no buildings, so there is plenty of air, anyway; I parked the car, went to class, came back 5 hours later and my engine was still warm! Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that is normal! Any advice as too what I do from here? Where is the heat coming from? could it be from the wg fitting on the top? Could it be that my turbo is leaking oil and that's why its burning up? Like I said any help or input would be much appreciated. I will post some pictures and a video I took earlier!

BTW, I forgot to mention my car warms up in a min even if its freezing outside, and my gauge never passes the middle, it doesn't overheat, YET emoji

For starters put a spring in your wg. your dumping all the exhaust that can fit out of it into your bay. Plus your turbo lag is probably ridiculous. Alot of people dump to atmosphere and theirs don't melt everything. I would also wrap your exhaust tubing with the heat wrap. They have like three colors. I did it to mine and I can grab my headers when its warmed up. As for it coming up to temp fast check your sensor or turn on your heat for a cheapy test just to see if the air is hot.

Sorry, I guess I didn't mention that my build isn't finished yet so I can't put the spring in because there's nothing to control fuel. Furthermore, I am no longer dumping into the atmosphere, I got the wg to circulate back in with the downpipe..

Driving the car with it dumping exhaust in the bay wasnt a very bright idea. You should have just put the spring in and kept your foot out of it. My car has always gotten super hot under the hood with the turbo. It also warms up very quick like yours does. I now have my manifold heat wrapped along with the exhaust. It helps a little bit but still gets hot. Going to be adding a turbo blanket soon. Might want to look into some heat shielding or something also

Ohhh ok gotcha. Yea it seems the best idea with any build is don't anxious and plan plan plan. The turbo will get hot and there is nothing you can do about it(besides water cooled turbos) but you can reduce it with the blanket and the wrap. good luck on your build. Check the wiki for your fuel needs.
