Its about time to buy the oil pump for my new engine. I remember there was a brand to stay away from for our cars but I couldnt remember. Also, I noticed a few people posting up using Melling M-190 pumps. On autozone the pump that shows up with the search is an M-198. When I search M-190 it says this pump is not compatible with 95s, but works for 99s. Whats that about? What pump should I end up getting for a built motor.

When Zac bought my oil pump from Chrysler - it was a M190 in a Mopar box for like 100.00 more.

Apparently it always has been a Melling and Chrysler stopped branding them according to the parts guy.

MB suggests finding a slightly used one. That way its pretty new and already had a trial run on a car. BTW thanks Grain for mine =)

My main concern was the part numbers though. Im not sure what year block this is, will it matter if I just pick up an M-190 pump?

As long as it isnt a "high volume" oil pump i believe you will be ok
