#135868, "Timing belt question"

Four years ago i followed the advice of this group to replace my timing belt. I put 70 thousand on a mechanical tensioner and goodyear belt. Thanks for all the good advice! Now i need to do it again. I'm wondering if the goodyear belt at parts dinosaur is a good choice or if i should upgrade to the gates. I seem to remember paying about 45 bucks for a goodyear timing belt at a local auto parts store the first time, but nobody seems to carry goodyear anymore. Mabey have to go to a goodyear store? I have a stock 95 rs, no turbo, just a daily driver. I also have to do the head gasket at the same time. i want to get everything at parts dinosaur unless there are better options. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks Jim

I had a gates timing on my last rs for about 9 thousand miles (till the engine decided to start a habit of smoking) and when i bought my current RS it was at the point of needing new belts and I picked up a gates belt. It works for me.

You can get the Timing Belt kit from RockAuto.com, part GTK0246, $57.79.

Either GoodYear or Gates are perfectly fine choices.
