anyone ever use one of these and see any substantial gains??
I plan on boosting this 420a eclipse if i get it. But I want to see what kind of power I can crank out of it NA, but i'd imagine if i got this it'd be useful both ways.

any input lemme know

Stock IM is fine for most goals. For further performance, have the TB bored, gasket match the ports, and open the runners up a bit.

The eBay IM you listed is garbage. Pure & simple. Knock off design, piss poor welds.

Allocate your budget elsewhere in the build. The IM can be one of the last things you upgrade when looking to squeeze the last few ponies out.

Those welds are horrible. I'd hate to see the hand that did that. The first thing that came to mind was Scary Movie 2. "Quick, grab my strong hand!" emoji

Actually that's^^the OBX intake I did the thread on. While the link he shows looks like a knock off of the OBX. So its a knock off of a knock off, lol. Wow those ARE some really bad welds!

I would absolutely not trust that.

Probably the best IM for our motor imo is a stock ported n polished IM. For boosted applications you could shorten the runners.

I sent my IM to Eddy Fierro of FierroRacing. He is based out of Phoenix and has been doing high quality headwork for a long time. It is currently on it's way back to me now. I got him to gasket match the runners, remove the casting from inside the runners, grind the injector humps down and port the t/b opening to accept 60mm. Price for the whole deal is $150, with shipping both ways included. I will post up pics when it arrives. He also drills & taps the IM for Megasquirt air intake temp sensor and coolant temp sensors.

Here is a link to his services provided for the Neon/420a:

There are water jackets in the intake manifold? News to me!

My upper & lower IM were also done by Fierro back in 2004. He did a good job - some bad things happened with him a couple years later and a couple members here - thought he was down and out of the game.

Glad to hear he is back and legitimate for the time being.

EDIT: I see where you got that from, you just copied the advertising lingo from Fierro's site emoji

The front facing intake manifold found on the Neons sometimes has the thermostat housing integrated, hence that service provided for them. If you find a water jacket on a 2GNT IM, let me know.

Yeah I would recommend Eddy's services to anyone looking for a little more from your IM.

Though I would do all that work myself, that's a really good price. Eddie has a very large knowledge base and experience with our cars (as well as many others, He has been doing "flow" work for many years). I would be very confident in his work. His ability/experience is certainly on par with AMM (actually more extensive).
