So it has been nothing but small problems with my 1996 eagle talon. I wont go into everything but I put the head back on, rewired the map sensor, re ran the fuel return line and fixed the fuel tank safety valve and tried a different computer. While driving down the road the car WILL NOT rev past 4000 rpm, I have no idea where to even start now. I have tested my coil, even replaced with two different ones, its getting plenty of fuel but I did notice that after driving it, engine off and key on that the idle air control valve makes a ticking noise(not sure if that has anything to do with it). I do have a cel but I can not get a scanner to connect to the car. So any info or new places to check would be very helpful thank you.

You have a 96. You can do the key dance for the cel (look up key dance on here). It sounds a little like you are throwing money at a problem (though we don't really know the history of why you did all those things). I do wonder why you rewired your map (and what did you do to rewire it)?

Not reving to a higher rpm normally points to timing or map. Re-ran the fual line? Are you sure timing is correct? Describe what you did with map re-wire and the code will help us out a lot.

Well the good thing is I havent spent very much money, I know a couple people with 2nd gens so they have loaned me parts to try out. When I got the car the cylinder head was off because the head gasket needed replaced and with the map the pigtail had been cut out of the harness so I had to go to a junkyard and get a pigtail from another car and wire in. With the fuel return line, someone had plugged it off out of the rail, so I had to run a line underneath the car to where they had cut the factory one(I assume they did that because the fuel tank safety valve was leaking pretty bad). I am fairly certain that it is timed right, I will double check that. Also whenever I unhook the battery it takes forever for the car to start again, it will start and run for like 3 seconds then shut off and it will do that several times and then if you let it sit for about 5 mins it will start and idle properly. Other than checking the timing, I have no clue on where to go after that, could it be a bad ground somewhere? And one more thing under the center console there are two pigtails one plugs into the srs box(which is yellow) and the other one isnt plugged into anything(which is white), is that supposed to go to something?

Well last night I tried to do the key dance but I could not get it to flash at all. When you turn the key to acc are there any lights that are supposed to come on because nothing comes on in my car, not sure if the radio does because there is no head unit yet.

I also tested 3 different coils, two of them the primary tested at 0.7 and my secondary tested at 11.8 and then my MSD coil the primary tested at 0.7 and secondary tested at 10.7. Could this be part of my problem, I did get rid of the MSD coild and am currently using one of the other ones which are just a regular that you can get from any parts stores.

Good news, shes fixed!!! In my stupidity I decided to do wiring in low light and got two wires mixed up, but now that the map sensor is wired correctly it starts a lot better and revs to 7000 rpm. I still have a few little things to work out but its nothing major.

Why did you start a new thread without solving your first one? Also why did you pick such a non-descript title? Help! I do not know what is happening! What is my car doing?

In the future, do not start multiple threads on similar problems unless you close one out first.
