I remember reading that there was a valve spring compressor that worked without removing the head. Anyone know where I can get one?

This link has some good information on how to do valve springs while the head is on. It also will point you in the right direction on how to find one.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/420a-bolt-tech/369156-valve-springs-retainers.html

Finish? What is this "finish" you speak of sir? Dsm's are never complete just temporarily put together.

97 eclipse gone but never forgotten Ill miss you money pit.

Thanks for that. Would this one work? It's for the 4g63, but would it work? If not, does someone make one that's like it? It seems like it would work because the bolt holes allow you to slide from side to side, anyone? http://www.euroexportinc.com/store/tools/valve-spring-tools/mitsubishi-4g63-valve-spring-compressor.html

So I emailed them asking if the 4g63 compressor would work on the 420a head, here's the response I got. Anyone care to tell me what he's saying? lol

"just does not work for only 4g63 engine"

Ask him again and tell him a simple yes or no will suffice. Probably not based off of the douchebag answer he gave you.

and its all better when you do it yourself. cheaper too.

From the way it looks maybe able to make it work with a little modification. Its only 70$ be work a shot if it would save you time in the long run.

Really? Got a part number?

As for the link, I'm just going to give them a call and ask if it will work on the 420a head instead of email since they have trouble with typing words lol..... But if I can get one for $20 from Advance, I'd rather go that route.... I don't want to take the head off again and waste more time, $75 is worth it.

From the looks of it it looks like it could work with our head.

I havent gotten to advance auto to see if but if they have one in stock u should be able to look at it and tell if it can fit. worst case u can always take it back.

Called them today and he said it won't work on our heads. I'm not sure if he was saying no because he isn't sure and was just being safe by saying no, or if he knows for a fact it won't work because he's tried a 420a head. It looks like it would work.
