#134702, "AC with no power steering. BELT SIZE?"
Jul-29-11 03:52 PM by xxsoccerguy55xx

I have been searching forever to get a belt for my ac. I took out my power steering. I cannot take a string and measure it, because my engine is apart at the moment. I am trying to get all the parts right now. I am keeping the pulleys stock and everything else (not sure if that matters). Can someone tell me what size belt they used?

Honestly I've never seen anyone do A/C only with no P/S. String might be your only bet to get it right.

I'm not entirely sure how you expect to tension the belt with no PS pump. The tensioner pulley is designed to ride on the outside of the belt.

I was going to take off the ac pulley. Put the belt around it, then try to bolt the ac back on. Going to be a little tough but some people on the forums have got it done and it worked fine.

In your first post you state that you were keeping the stock tensioner?

Just for the record it can be done without the tensioner. I have done it just to say I could do it (besides not having a tensioner anymore) and the fact that I wanted to see if it was worth having my A/C again...

...and I was wrong on both parts heh. It is a major PITA to get that A/C belt around the pulley...and I wasn't satisified with the A/C either. Too much load to deal with when running a UDP with both P/S and A/C.

No, but I used a rope and got my measurement. I went to the parts store, told them I need a 5 rib belt that is this length.
