#134264, "Stock ECU Spark Advance?"

Is there any listing of this or anyway to find it out? Im trying to find the differences between the stock ECUs map mostly at WOT and the one I made on my MS. I found out today on the dyno that my car makes the same Horsepower at 33* advance as it does at 25* advance WOT, but the car feels better and probably likes me better. Although it wasnt knocking, I wasnt doing anything with the additional 10*. But at only 25* advance, Im really wondering what the stock ECU is retarding the timing to. Any way to tell other than hooking up a code reader to a stock 420A and watching the advance under WOT? I know they change under certain circumstances such as weather, but it should stay close.

Wow, can't believe that you added over 10 degrees of timing and nothing happened, not even det. I would have thought that torque went up with something like that, you may also get a lot better gas mileage from it. But then again, it could also be a fluke emoji

That surprised me too. Absolutely NO change in Torque or HP (overlay from all 6 dyno runs the same), but my duty cycle did go up to make the same AFR. The only thing I noticed was the car sounded healthier and when I left it felt faster, and broke the tires loose on hot pavement, in first and second, which hasnt happened before.

I guess the main question is did it change the curves at all? If everything is the same, then how could it possibly run better? I can only think you had a good launch and are under some placebo affect or are leaving something out.

The curves changed slightly from my first Dyno last year, and actually my peak torque moved from 4500 to 6600 rpm. On top of that, me and my tuner were talking about it for a while and a motor that has 10* of dead advance timing is likely detonating to some extent, not bad enough that it sounds like a jar of marbles being shaken, and is fighting itself less at 25* advance and would be alot more happy under high revs.
