it sounds like my acc belt is squeaking.. i think thats what its called its the belt on the left of the motor right below the cam gear case.. what do i have to do to spot this? replace the belts? or is there something else i can do

yeah u can spray them with belt dressing and that will help for about 10 min. or u can just tighten your belt. loosen the nut on the back of the tensioner wheel and then turn in the tensioner bolt until u have about 1/2 inch of play up and down on the belt, then tighten the nut back up and down the road u go.

i sprayed my belt with dressing.... did it three times before it stopped... on the last time, i just sprayed for like 10 minutes and kept screaming at it to stop... and well.. it did.

it's just a temporary solution until i get my udp put in.

belt dressin will sometimes wear your belts or dry them out. just tighten them, and if that doesnt solve your problem, then try the dressin.

check my site, i have a writeup for a udp install, but it involves tightening of the accesory belts. see if that helps u. should be more towards the bottom of the afx udp install writeup.

hey just some advice to when you put that afx udp on or for those that are geting them.. right when you get it take the belts that come with it and find a nice trash can.. place them in it and go get a pair of goodyear/kelly/gates brand belts.. the ones that come with the afx suck and will squeak and im sure you dont want that do you.. just remember to find the right size of the belts for the application.. there are numbers for other brands on the belts packaging..

What ever you do don't over tighten your Alternator belt. I did it thinking it was gonna slove my squeeking belt prob. I ended up having my rpm's go up on me when ever i put the car in neutral.

The alternator was working harder than it should. So I just loosened it up a while ago and everythings cool. Oh yeah vegasdsmr has a great write up on tightening/loosening @ his site.

How much would it cost to just goto to a firestone or some place like that and get them to tighten it up. My belt is sqeaking too, do i have to buy a new belt or just tighten up

Don't let them charge you more than 10 bucks to tighten it. Do it yourself if you have the tools and know how (it's pretty easy). But if you don't feel safe doing it yourself, just pay any mechanic 10 bucks or so. If they're nice, they'll do it for free when you get an oil change or something...

Its so easy to do your self. Its just turning a couple of bolts that make the belts tighter or looser. As long as you have the tools your cool. If you don't go out and get some, its worth every cent.
Go to an autozone get some tools. If you need more help just reply and like i said above. vegasdsmr has a great write up.

But if your not a do it yourself kinda guy just go to any shop. Like Eclipse 804 said don't let them charge you more than $10.

Ok I just got done driving my car for bout 30 minutes round town and when i parked her back home the sqeakin was gone. It only happens when I first start up my car when i havent used it for bout 7 hours or i think when it rains. So do I still have to get my belt tightened or is it something else?
