so I know that there are years that can be used because of the crank and all but can anyone tell me the code on the block of the one I can or can not use? At my local junkyard some motors are out but I want to see if it is the right one before paying.

EDZ is the block/engine code. You really need to search as this information has been covered.

I know the engine code but when I searched on here and neons.org they said there were certain years that couldn't work and didn't know if there was other codes on the block

The .org has every bit of information you could want about the swap, including what parts work and what do not. Read through the stickies there.
